She started her career with ABP Pvt Ltd. the leading media conglomerate of Eastern India, and later Living Media India Ltd., the India Today group. She then shifted to working for positive psychology intervention, being associated with Centre for Applied positive Psychology Coventry, UK. as the sole coordinator for India. She has since worked for several organizations, like TCS, Action Aid as a communication and leadership trainer and coach.
With over 25 years of experience in radio broadcast, Avirupa’s association with All India Radio dates back to 1998. She is also one of the ten women broadcasters selected by Spotify for their international SoundUp project. She is presently also a content producer of a youtube channel Chaepani.
She has also been part of numerous acclaimed theatre productions, both national and international, notably a collaborative project with Cornell University USA and University of Maine USA.
